2019 Annual Report

Informed by more than three decades of work in the field, AIDS United’s approach to ending the HIV epidemic in the United States is guided by five essential and unique elements:

  • Linking policy to practice.
  • Promoting meaningful involvement of all individuals affected by HIV.
  • Designing responsive grant-making programs informed by the communities we serve.
  • Addressing the many social determinants of health through a social justice and harm reduction approach.
  • Building community capacity to effectively respond to the domestic HIV epidemic.

AIDS United promotes a progressive policy agenda that addresses statutory barriers to HIV services. All policy and advocacy efforts are guided by our Public Policy Council, made up of more than 50 of the leading HIV service organizations across the U.S. 2019 marked the 35th anniversary of our Public Policy Council. As part of the celebrations, AIDS United was proud to honor Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, for his 35 years of leadership, research and advocacy on behalf of people living with or affected by HIV in the United States.

Combined, the home jurisdictions of our grantees, capacity building assistance recipient organizations and PPC members account for more than 96% of the current HIV epidemic.
