At the Intersection of Health & Social Justice: the Transgender Health Summit 2015

The collective energy and excitement among participants at the 2015 Transgender Health Summit was obvious upon our arrival. During the opening plenary, we learned that the due to community demand, the conference had nearly doubled in attendance since the previous conference. This growth parallels the long overdue attention to the needs and realities of transgender people in the US in regards to HIV prevention and treatment. AIDS United served as a sponsor of the event, and I felt proud to be a part of a team that added to the success of this important gathering.

Exchanging More than Needles: The Point of Replicating a Harm Reduction Housing Model

Transforming Services, Transforming the Epidemic: Embracing Trauma-Informed Care at Christie's Place

An oasis. A beacon of hope. A safe space. Just a few phrases that describe what Christie’s Place is for hundreds of women living with HIV in San Diego, CA. Serving the San Diego community since 1996, Christie’s Place is a small nonprofit health and human service agency that has been recognized as a national leader in delivering gender-responsive services through innovative models of care in a region where most HIV-specific resources are targeted to HIV-positive men. With a staff of 21 and significant volunteer support, Christie’s Place provides a safety net to address the complex and unique challenges faced by women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS, which often keep them from seeking care and/or staying in care.

Positive Pathways: Peers Removing Barriers to Care
