Policy & Advocacy
AIDS United’s mission is to end the AIDS epidemic in the United States.
AIDS United (AU) offers a unique combination of national and regional advocacy and locally-responsive programming. Our regional and national advocacy activities are informed by each other, are driven by our Public Policy Committee’s vision and guidance, and are aligned with our programmatic work.
The time to end the epidemic is now. For the first time we are in a position to capitalize on scientific and planning advances that have the potential to end the HIV epidemic. We must fight policy setbacks like the misguided sequester and austerity budgets that jeopardize our ability to take advantage of this unique opportunity to reverse the HIV epidemic.
With a particular focus on all men who have sex with men, women of color, and the southern region of the United States, we will take a leadership role in our advocacy in the following areas in 2013-2014: Educating Congress, Budget and Appropriations, Integrating HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment into Health Care, Strengthening the Ryan White Program, Evidence-Based Prevention, and Diversity and Inclusiveness.
