Southern REACH 2014-2015 Grant Cycle
Using cash resources, technical assistance and network development, AIDS United’s Southern REACH (Regional Expansion of Access and Capacity to Address HIV/AIDS) initiative supports the improvement of the HIV/AIDS-focused policy/advocacy activities of community-based organizations in nine states of the U.S. South (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee), one of the nation’s most impacted regions. Southern REACH was launched in 2007 to strengthen community capacity and build strategic advocacy to address HIV/AIDS across a nine state Southern region. Since its inception, Southern REACH has supported over 80 organizations serving historically disenfranchised populations that are disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS. Through this initiative, AU has awarded nearly $9 million in grants over a six-year period. In order to invest in policy advocacy programs and activities of organizations reaching priority populations and leading advocacy and organizing efforts, AU expects to award a total of $1.4 million in total grants via renewal funding and the competitive grantmaking processes by March 1, 2014.
