m2MPower Video Contest Winners Promote HIV Prevention for MSM

WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 26, 2013 – The votes are in! Three community-based organizations submitting videos for AIDS United’s “What’s In Your HIV Prevention Toolbox” contest mobilized their networks to garner the most votes for their submissions! Each organization will receive a cash incentive from AIDS United to help bolster outreach with their video to further spread the word about HIV prevention to the gay men they serve. The top three organizations and their videos are:

Cascade AIDS Project, Portland, OR
Cascade AIDS Project serves Oregon and Southwest Washington wish a mission to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, empower those living with it, and erase the stigma that still exists around the disease.

Georgia Equality, Atlanta, GA

Metro Wellness and Community Centers
Established in 1993, Metro Wellness and Community Centers is committed to providing premier HIV services, social networking, and other health and wellness programs that enhance the quality of life for the Tampa Bay community.

The contest is part of AIDS United’s m2MPower initiative, which seeks to halt the rising rates of HIV among gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM).

“We were so impressed with the creativity and resourcefulness demonstrated by all of the organizations that submitted videos,” said Michael Kaplan, AIDS United President & CEO. “Not only did they all have unique and fun ways of answering the question ‘What’s in your HIV Prevention Toolbox,’ but they pulled out all of the stops to mobilize support from their respective networks, which only helped to spread the message about HIV prevention even further.
