Retention in Care
AIDS United's Retention in Care (RiC) initiative is a multi-year partnership with the MAC AIDS Fund to address the intractable barriers that prevent nearly 4 out of 5 HIV+ people to stay on consistent treatment.
Appropriate, timely and responsive healthcare leads to better health outcomes, and also helps prevent further spread of HIV. This initiative will play a strategic role in supporting the development of model programs that remove the barriers to retention in HIV health care for populations that are underserved and at highest risk of dropping out of care. Further, this AIDS United/MAC AIDS Fund partnership will assist the HIV/AIDS community at a critical and historic time -- simultaneously with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the White House Office of National AIDS Policy implementation of the first National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States. One of the pillars of the strategy is optimizing health outcomes for PLWHA.
In January, 2013, AIDS United announced its first cohort Retention in Care grantees. Click here to read the announcement, including a list of grantees and their projects.
