The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, in collaboration with AIDS United, the Treatment Access Expansion Project, and the US People Living with HIV Caucus, would like to warmly welcome you to AIDSWatch 2019!

Check out the event agenda, download the advocate briefs, and don’t forget to RSVP for Monday evening’s Positive Leadership Award reception at the Capitol!

See below for additional details about AIDSWatch, and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions to policy@aidsunited.org!

Location:
The first day of AIDSWatch will be held in the Commonwealth Ballroom on the first floor of the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel, 900 South Orme Street, Arlington, Virginia 22204.

Transportation:
Daily parking is available at the hotel for $32.00. The hotel offers a complimentary hotel shuttle to and from the airport and the Pentagon City Metro Station every half hour. Call the front desk at 703-521-1900 for details.

Registration:
Monday, April 1, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM in the foyer of the Commonwealth Ballroom (or check in early on Sunday, March 31 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM in the Concourse Rooms on the first floor of the hotel). Also, if you know anyone else who hopes to attend AIDSWatch, registration is closed. However, on-site registration is available and people can indicate their interest here.

Meals:
AIDSWatch includes a buffet breakfast and lunch in the foyer of the Commonwealth Ballroom on Monday. Plan to purchase your own meals on Tuesday – cafeterias are located in the Senate’s Dirksen building and the House’s Longworth and Rayburn buildings.

Bathrooms:
Restrooms are all gender-neutral in the hotel lobby – across from the ballroom next to the hotel’s front desk. The only gender-neutral bathroom on the Hill is in the basement of Longworth House Office Building near the post office.

WiFi:
Hotel guests will receive WiFi passwords upon check-in, and free WiFi for the conference room will be available, password to be distributed on-site.

Questions for Dr. Robert Redfield:
Dr. Robert Redfield, Director of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, will keynote Monday morning and speak about the Administration's plan to end the domestic HIV epidemic, and he will take questions from advocates. Please submit your questions for Dr. Redfield here!

AIDSWatch Hill Day:

You will be assigned to an advocacy group based on your state, with a State Lead, who will support you on this important day. In addition to print copies of your Hill day schedule, you will also have access to Soapbox Advocacy Day Mobile Tool, a tool that provides real-time information from any web-connected device. Become familiar with how to use the tool in advance here. You will receive your mobile code on Monday at lunchtime.

The day will begin with the AIDSWatch rally starting promptly at 8:00 AM on Tuesday morning to gather and raise our voices before Hill meetings – see the agenda for more information about the location.

AIDSWatch will provide coach buses to transport advocates from the hotel to Capitol Hill from 6:00-7:30am. Space is limited, please board by 7:00am. You are responsible for your return trip. Please wear comfortable shoes, business casual clothing, and your AIDSWatch t-shirt to the Hill. Keep it simple: You will need to pass through metal detectors and a bag screener. Too much jewelry or metal will slow you down going through security. We encourage you to store your personal belongings with the hotel front desk and NOT to bring luggage to the Capitol – there will be no dedicated space to store luggage on the Hill on April 2.

Training Webinars:
The US People Living with HIV Caucus hosted training webinars for new (or returning!) advocates to learn more about AIDSWatch and the policies priorities (links to recording and slides). Register for the upcoming webinar on March 28 at 3 PM EST in Spanish here (info in Spanish below)!
