Program Manager: Special Projects of National Significance


AIDS United’s grant-making portfolio dates to the founding of the National AIDS Fund in 1987. For more than two decades, we have supported community-driven responses to the HIV epidemic around the country that reach the nation’s most disproportionately affected populations, including gay and bisexual men, communities of color, women, people living in the deep South and people living with HIV. To date, our strategic grantmaking initiatives have directly funded more than $118 million to local communities and have leveraged more than $184 million in additional investments for programs that include, but are not limited to, syringe access, access to care, capacity-building, HIV prevention and advocacy. 

AIDS United’s policy and advocacy roots were born out of coalition in 1984, when AIDS service organizations across the country came together to form AIDS Action Council. AIDS Action Foundation was formed as the education arm a few years later. AAC and AAF together formed AIDS Action, decades later, AIDS Action merged with the National AIDS Fund. AIDS United houses the most seasoned and respected domestic HIV policy team in Washington, D.C., and our public policy work is informed by a Public Policy Council that includes a broad array of organizations from all regions of the country engaged in helping to end the HIV epidemic in the United States. 

AIDS United seeks to hire a program manager who will join our team to work on two federal projects-SPNS Initiate for Improving Care and Treatment Coordination of Black Women with HIV at 12 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Programs (RWHAP) and the Center for Coordinating Technical Assistance (CCTA) for the Innovative Intervention Strategies (2iS) initiative focused on making grant awards and providing technical assistance to RWHAPs to implement interventions focused on services to address substance use disorders; services for people with incarceration experience; services for LGBTQ+ youth; and advancing telehealth services.

Applicants must have a minimum of four years program and/or grants management experience with programs reaching and engaging people living with and affected by HIV and specific experience in one or more of the focus areas of the initiatives. The position requires strong writing, communication, and negotiation abilities. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, remote environment, with the demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to build rapport and credibility quickly with people at all levels, detail-oriented with exceptional project and time management skills, familiarity with grants management including- meeting deliverables; monitoring work plan objectives; oversight of subcontracts; and familiarity with webinar and/or multimedia platforms supportive of learning communities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is critical. Experience with web-based grants management systems is preferred.  

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and based on salary history. The anticipated salary range is $65,000-$75,000 includes exceptional benefits offered in a flexible work environment. The position may operate from a remote location.
