Monique Tula, Vice President of Programs, to leave AIDS United

After more than 4 years of service, Monique Tula will leave AIDS United at the end of August to accept the position of executive director for the Harm Reduction Coalition, a national nonprofit based in New York City and Oakland, CA dedicated to advancing the health and dignity of people and communities impacted by drug use. Harm Reduction Coalition serves as an integral partner of AIDS United’s capacity building portfolio.

“While we are of course sad to see Monique go, our entire staff is thrilled for her and the incredible opportunity,” said Jesse Milan, Jr., J.D., AIDS United interim president & CEO. Milan adds:

Her focus on expanding our capacity to address HIV-specific implications of the opioid crisis and her passion for aligning unique services and strengths of complementing AIDS United initiatives have made us faster, stronger and more strategic. Monique has made a difference here and across the field. Any organization is lucky to have her expertise, passion and commitment. The communities AIDS United serves have benefitted immensely from Monique’s work, and we look forward to collaborating with the Harm Reduction Coalition to advance its mission and ours.

Dr. Robert Hilliard Jr., chair of the AIDS United Board of Trustees said:
AIDS United is a critical player in the national response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Not only does it support the field through innovative programs, grantmaking, strong policy and advocacy work, AIDS United also serves as a critical pipeline bringing the next generation of leaders to a national stage. We are proud to have been part of Monique’s journey and we are thrilled to see what comes next for her.
Ms. Tula is leading a transition over the month of August for the Program Department at AIDS United with the support of Mr. Matthew Kessler, vice president of operations, Ms. Christine Campbell, AIDS United’s new senior technical advisor consultant and by Mr. Milan.
