Bishar Jenkins

Grantmaking Intern

Bishar Jenkins is a Grantmaking Intern with AIDS United. Bishar enters this internship with policy experience in the nonprofit and public sectors. He began his career as an Emerging Leaders Intern with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, DC. Most recently, he served as a Health Policy Fellow at Fenway Institute in Boston. At the institute, he contributed to research efforts on LGBT and HIV/AIDS policy.

Bishar earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Rutgers University. Bishar is a second year Master of Public Policy student at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. His research at Brandeis focuses exclusively on the HIV epidemic among Black and Latinx Queer/same gender loving individuals. Bishar is committed to eliminating HIV stigma, which is a barrier to both testing and treatment for Black Queer/SGL individuals.

Outside of work and school, Bishar enjoys listening to R&B and neo-soul, singing karaoke and reading anything by Audre Lorde. He is a proud native of Trenton, New Jersey.
