Melanie Powers, MPH
Senior Program Manager

Melanie Powers is thrilled to serve as Senior Program Manager for the Southern HIV Impact Fund, bringing to the position 8 years of public health experience in HIV prevention, reproductive justice, and comprehensive sex education instruction and advocacy.
As one of many in her generation for whom law school seemed a final option upon discovering limited use for her liberal arts degree, she will be forever grateful for her introduction into public health. Beginning as an administrative assistant at IWES in New Orleans, it became clear that her desire to work for social justice and equity could be realized in the field of public health and better yet, it could be coupled with her personal passion for sex positivity and promoting sexual health.
She spends most of her free time laughing and adventuring with her partner, Eve, and pup, Wookie. She also enjoys practicing guitar and dance. Lastly, as a New Orleans native, lifelong Saints fan, and resident of Atlanta since Summer 2017, she feels the following must be stated: Who Dat?!
