Positive Links: Using Technology to Improve Retention in Care

Can a downloadable smartphone application help people living with HIV stay in care? The answer is yes! This webinar explores how “warm” technology can be an important tool in retaining people living with HIV in care. A staff member and client from the Positive Links Program at the University of Virginia discuss their program, which was designed to mitigate barriers to linkage and retention in care among newly diagnosed clients of the UVA Ryan White Clinic.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Explain how use of a smartphone application can enhance retention in care for people living with HIV;
  • List three factors to consider in planning to use a smartphone application for retention in care; and
  • Describe how “warm technology” could be used in their work setting.

Intended Audience:
This webinar is intended for staff at AIDS service organizations, community-based organizations, and medical service providers that provide access-to-care and retention-in-care services and who are interested in learning about a promising strategy for retaining clients in HIV care.
