This year’s conference registration costs have increased in comparison to previous years. This is due in part to inflation, which has increased the cost of our venue, catering, and AV services. This year’s registration costs include an AIDSWatch branded t-shirt and tote bag, printed materials, the congressional reception on Tuesday night, the welcome reception on Monday night, and breakfast and lunch on Tuesday, March 16. If cost is prohibitive to your attendance, please email AIDSWatch@aidsunited.org.

The AIDSWatch 2027 briefs will be available on the AIDSWatch website before the event.

No registration is required for the Capitol Hill reception on Tuesday, March 16. Transportation is not included from the AIDSWatch event space. Signage for directions to Capitol Hill will be posted for individual travel assistance. There are various routes via public transportation to the Rayburn House Office Building. The most direct route will be from the Crystal City metro rail station, taking the Blue Line (towards Largo) to the Capitol South station; this route will take approximately 53 minutes with included walking times. For a route with minimal walking, a bus route with 2 transfers is available and can be found on Google or Apple Maps.

The Renaissance Arlington Capital View hotel also offers a complimentary Metro shuttle. From their website: “Hotel guests find getting around Arlington & the D.C. area even easier with our complimentary shuttle service every half hour to the Crystal City Metro Station, the Pentagon, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Hours: DCA & Metro: 5 a.m. – 11 p.m., 7 days a week. Pentagon: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m., M-F.”

Attendees should expect to receive their Hill visit schedule the week before AIDSWatch.

There will not be a necessary application for download, as a web-based schedule will be available through the Soapbox Consulting website.

If your travel schedule allows, you can store your luggage at the conference hotel or the hotel where you are staying. The AIDSWatch team is arranging a space near Capitol Hill for luggage storage during meetings for those advocates who will need to depart without stopping back by their hotel. Staff will monitor entrance and exit to the storage site and will closely monitor luggage. All luggage must be claimed by 5 p.m. Please note: this is not a respite area and cannot be used for such due to contractual limitations.

During major AIDSWatch activities - notably the plenary session and select workshops on Tuesday, March 16 - live Spanish interpretation will be available. Registrants who indicated utilization of simultaneous interpretation on their registration form will be contacted to ensure coverage during the rest of the conference activities, including for Capitol Hill visits.

The Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel provides elevators between several floors for AIDSWatch activities. The training rooms will be set up with rows of chairs and table rounds. Gender-neutral restrooms will be available on the second floor, where conference activity will be centered. Additionally, service animals are welcome at the hotel. Wheelchair accessible entrances for each of the congressional office buildings are listed below. Please find even more information, including directions from Metro stops to each of these accessible entrances, on pages 19-22 of this document.

• Hart Senate Office Building - on 2nd Street NE, midway between C Street NE and Constitution Ave. NE.
• Russell Senate Office Building - on Delaware Ave. NE, between C Street NE and Constitution Ave. NE.
• Dirksen Senate Office Building - on 1st Street NE, between C Street NE and Constitution Ave. NE.
• Cannon House Office Building - on New Jersey Ave. SE, between C Street SE and Independence Ave. SE.
• Longworth House Office Building - on the corner of Independence Ave. SE and New Jersey Ave. SE, or on the east side of South Capitol Street SE, between C Street SE and Independence Ave. SE.
• Rayburn House Office Building - on the west side of South Capitol Street SE, between C Street SE and Independence Ave. SE.

Constituents may request the use of a wheelchair through their senator’s or representative’s office. Please contact them directly to arrange this. Further accessibility information can be found on the website of the Architect of the Capitol.

Capitol Hill has a severe lack of gender-neutral restrooms. Only one single-use restroom is available to the public in the basement of Longworth House Office Building. It is accessible by elevator. Congressional staff should know where the closest wheelchair-accessible restrooms are in relation to their offices. Additionally, service animals are allowed inside the Capitol as well.
