Learning opportunities with AIDS United's Midwest Capacity Building Assistance team

Throughout the month of March, AIDS United’s Midwest Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) program will offer a variety of no-cost learning and engagement opportunities for health departments and their community partners across the region. Be sure to mark these on your calendars and join us!​ Syringe Services Programs pre-Institute webinars March 15 and March 17, 2021 2-3:30 p.m. CDT Two webinars — Strengthening Health Infrastructure in the Midwest through Harm Reduction and Overdose Response and Midwest Syringe Services Programs durinCOVID -19 — will lay the groundwork for this month’s virtual institute on syringe services programs in the Midwest. Midwest Partnership Ending the HIV Epidemic Convening: Sustaining and Redefining Community Relationships with B.E.S.T. Practices March 18, 2021 1-6 p.m. CDT The national plan to end the HIV epidemic is a bold strategy that requires broad and robust community and health department partnership. This afternoon of conversation and networking will highlight community B.E.S.T. (building, engaging, strengthening and trust-centered) practices, and how the role of communities in Midwest EHE Phase 1 jurisdictions can be re-imagined and re-defined. HIV Cluster and Outbreak Detection and Response (CDR) Planning – Midwest Webinar March 25, 2021 1-2 p.m. CDT In January 2021, AIDS United convened health department staff from select Midwest jurisdictions for a two-day virtual workshop focused on strengthening HIV CDR plan development. This webinar will review a written brief summarizing the key points of discussion during the workshop and offer recommendations for common challenges related to cluster and outbreak detection and response. Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) Learning Collaborative: Navigating Change Webinar March 26, 2021 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT As a result of COVID-19, much of the STD and HIV DIS workforce has experienced unique challenges, responsibility shifts and changes to their processes and resources. This learning collaborative will bring together DIS from several states to learn from one another's experiences and successes. Learn more and register on our website. Midwest Syringe Services Programs: Virtual Institute March 30 and 31, 2021 12:00 p.m. CDT start In collaboration with local health departments, community partners and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, AIDS United is excited to present our second virtual institute on syringe services programs in the Midwest. This institute will continue discussions and learning sessions on harm reduction principles, overdose response, innovative community partnerships and key strategies to strengthening program design and implementation.
